Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to Room Io 10’s class blog. We will be posting on here regularly to keep you up to date with the things we are doing within our class and any important messages. The messages will be in addition to those received through the school note distribution. We have had a wonderful start to Year One. We are extremely busy adjusting to the new routines. The students have embraced all tasks with such positive attitudes and are keen to demonstrate a best effort. We look forward to the year ahead progressing well.
Below we have outlined the concepts to be covered this term.
Literacy
- Recount writing using all the components of vocabulary, connectives, openers and punctuation
- Reading comprehension skills and decoding words
- Investigating different areas of grammar such as nouns, adjectives, verbs
- Spelling a range of new sight words and learning the Year 1 Phonics Sounds
Maths
- Applying mental math strategies to help solve everyday problems
- Understand the language of addition and subtraction
- Counting on and counting back to 100
- Facts to 10
- Recognising 2D shapes and naming their properties
- Measuring different lengths of objects
- Reading and interpreting a range of graphs
Science
- Earth and Space Science
History and Social Studies HASS
- Geography
Health
- CHAT Program which focuses on road safety
Throughout the year if you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to come and see me. To have a successful year, we must work together to ensure the best possible outcomes for your child. I am extremely approachable, honest and very appreciative of parent feedback.
